47 Annual General Assembly of the Social Planning Council was held on June 18th at the Hawk's Nest at Wilfrid Laurier University. We were proud to award the Social Development Award to two individuals, Nancy Cherry and Valerie Manica, and to two organizations, the Community Care Access Centre and the Waterlo Regional Labour Council. "High Touch & High Tech" balance in journalism was discussed with Andrea Bellemare.

Opening Doors was a theme for the 46th Annual General Meeting of the Social Planning Council of Kitchener-Waterloo held on June 27. It was an occasion for the Board, staff and volunteers to share the highlights of the activities in 2012, and present the Annual Social Development Awards to five (5) partner agencies in recognition of their contributions to the community in partnership with the Social Planning Council: John Wilson on behalf of the ONPHA and the Housing Opens Doors project, Lynn Macaulay on behalf of the Housing and Homelessness Umbrella Group (HHUG), Elizabeth Clarke on behalf of the YWCA K-W, Janice Ouellette for the Festival of Neighbourhoods on behalf of the City of Kitchener, and Mark Hildebrand for the City of Kitchener.
We all know that affordable housing is a human right and a real solution to real problems. Open a door with us to make sure that investment in the future of Ontario is an investment in affordable housing too.

Housing Opens Doors Display welcomes you from 9 am to 6 pm on June 27th at the Kitchener Civic Square, thanks to the collaborative set up by the Ontario Non Profit Housing Association, the Homelessness and Housing Umbrella Group, and the Social Planning Council of Kitchener Waterloo. 
The Annual General Assembly community update and business meeting of the Social Planning Council will start at 12 noon at the Kitchener City Hall.
Mark your calender for the Annual General Meeting of the Social Planning 
Council of Kitchener-Waterloo on June 27th. We are hosting Housing Opens Doors Road Show Installation from 12 noon until 6 pm at the Kitchener City Square. The Housing Opens Doors campaign is a way into the world of safe and affordable homes, that lead to better health, good education and strong economy.
At 6 pm, we start our annual assembly at the City of Kitchener Rotunda. Come to talk about our shared values, project partnerships and poverty reduction campaigns.
