Community Resource Assistant

The Social Planning Council is seeking a student who is exceptionally well organized, has a thirst for community knowledge, a keen interest in social justice and will thrive in a fast paced democratic team environment. This position provides an opportunity to develop community facilitation, information service and research skills. Working directly with staff at our community resource centre, the successful candidate will assist with community and social data projects and with maintaining information resources.

Neighbourhood Animator

The Social Planning Council is seeking a Neighbourhood Animator to work with Festival sponsors to further the objectives of Kitchener’s Festival of Neighbourhoods which runs from April to October. The main purpose of the Festival is to build a stronger sense of community by inviting citizens to create inclusive activities to bring their neighbours together. The Animator will implement strategies to engage leadership for neighbourhood activities and to promote inclusive participation.

The Kitchener Festival of Neighbourhoods Organising Committee is seeking an action oriented program coordinator for the 2008 Festival. The successful candidate has proven administrative skills, is committed to values of community and community connectedness, understands the local community and its various facets, has highly developed people skills and can take up the reigns to keep a successful initiative going and growing.

Festival of Neighbourhoods: Call for Proposals

The Festival of Neighbourhoods Organising Committee is seeking proposals from qualified practitioners to facilitate a project to enable this initiative to meet challenges that the Festival has identified. These challenges have arisen from the growing realisation by the project sponsors and participating partners that the Festival is clearly an innovative nascent model for facilitating community capacity building. This model must be explored and captured for the benefit of the initiative, its founding community of Kitchener, and neighbouring communities.
