No more status quo solutions!
SDC invites you to join community organizers, service providers, and elected officials on March 9 for an evening of learning and advocacy around homelessness and housing policy. The purpose of Hope for Ending Homelessness - A Community Dialogue" is to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders to build a shared understanding - of the issues, potential solutions, and the support that's needed from all levels of government to address this crisis.
While housing is considered a human right, the number of people experiencing homelessness in Waterloo Region has more than double since Jan 2020 and is on track to triple by 2028. According to a mid-project report by Waterloo Region's Plan to End Chronic Homelessness, "a radical reform of governance and service is needed - and maintaining the status quo is not an option for ending chronic homelessness.
We know that a rise in homelessness has been seen across the country in recent years, and that solutions require engagement from all levels of government - regional, provincial, and federal - as well as those with "boots on the ground." Whether you have deep experience in this space, or are a concerned community member, we invite you to participate in this important community dialogue.
This event is free and open to the public. Reserve your spot today!
