48th Annual General Meeting

Join us to hear compelling stories of community action on June 22, 2015 during the 48th Annual General Meeting of the Social Planning Council of Kitchener-Waterloo. Continue the Decent Lives discussion to weave what is being done in the community into a deeper understanding of why community action and planning is important to our local landscape.

Stories will be shared by the Good Hearted Women Singers, an Indigenous and non-Indigenous women's drum circle, Crossing Borders, a youth group of refugees and Canadians who want to raise awareness and encourage social justice, Poverty Free Kitchener-Waterloo action group for poverty elimination, and Disabilities and Human Rights Group, a group for those who care about making our community more accessible to everyone

Consultation: Labour Law Changes

Ontario has launched public consultations on the Labour Laws Reform: The Changing Workplace Review. Input from communities and groups will be collected until September 18th. The list of public input sessions will be updated at the Ministry of Labour website

The consultation will consider how the Labour Relations Act, 1995 and Employment Standards Act, 2000 could be updated to best protect workers while supporting businesses in the changing economy.

Registration Open for the Community Engagement, Leadership and Development Certificate Program

The Community Engagement certificate program is geared towards practitioners in the public and non-profit sector from a variety of fields and disciplines. Courses in this program have been developed through community-based social planning practice across Ontario. Leadership for developing and delivering the curriculum is provided by Peter Clutterbuck, a long standing contributor to the Social Planning Network of Ontario.Chang School

As a member of the Social Planning Network of Ontario, the Social Planning Council of Kitchener-Waterloo is working with the Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson University to provide local field support for the online Certificate Program.
